The Selection Process

Family Interviews

Primary & Secondary School Students

Families in need are referred to IHEI by the administrators of the schools and engagement with the community. The student is interviewed with a family member who is usually the parent, guardian or an older sibling.

Community Home Visits

Kanyanya, Uganda

The local program manager also refers families within the community who reached out to IHEI for support. Each student and family is visited in the home to assess their eligibility for the program.

Some families are more difficult to locate. Nevertheless, if a student is referred for sponsorship, every effort is made to meet the family and interact with the child/children in the homes. Report cards are also evaluated for average and above academic performance.

Family Information Meeting

 Primary and Secondary  Levels

Parents are invited to attend a general meeting with their selected student(s). This presents an opportunity for the parents to connect with the program manager and group leaders.

Each family and student submits a detailed application for sponsorship.

Recruitment is an ongoing process. One of our largest recruitment project  interviewed 24 families and 23 new students were selected for educational sponsorship.
