Tremendous 2024 Program Visit

Each year, Lindy Wright, the Program Founder and Executive Director, travels to Uganda to support the students, families, and local IHEI staff. This year, she was joined by Wendy, an IHEI sponsor visiting Uganda for the first time. The mission was bolstered by the exceptional fundraising efforts of Lindy's niece, Alyssa Skaggs, an Eagle Scout in Texas. Thanks to Alyssa's dedication and her family's support, she played a crucial role in providing hundreds of school supplies, hygiene products, clothing, and other personal necessities for the IHEI students. We are immensely grateful for Alyssa's contributions and extend our appreciation to everyone who supported the fundraiser.

With the enjoyment of a new music, dance and drama program, the students welcomed Lindy and Wendy with a performance showcasing Uganda's vibrant culture and warmth.

Highlights from the trip included:

  • Supporting a family who tragically lost their home to a fire during the first week of the mission. IHEI aided the family in their recovery and raised emergency funding for temporary housing.

  • A visit to Sanyu Babies Home, an orphanage for children under 4 years old, where IHEI contributed 10 new dresses, 72 toddler toothbrushes, 2 boxes of crayons, and 25 coloring books.

  • Reconnecting with our parents and students. Each student was given an IHEI-UGANDA backpack packed with numerous school and hygiene supplies, as well as clothing. Some students received new school shoes. The distribution of the donated supplies brought immense joy. There was also a clothing exchange for the mothers!

  • A discussion with prospective students and their families in need of scholarship and sponsorship.

  • The meeting with parents also featured a conversation about generating income and fostering community development. An exciting new chapter for our organization!

We are grateful for the supporters, sponsors, and staff who make these missions possible. May God continue to be glorified through the service of His children and families in Uganda!
